busyGood lord, that's a mouthful. In retrospect I should have, perhaps, come up with a slightly shorter name for it. However, it is what it is, and it's up and running. "It" being the brand new and very shiny UK Etsy Sellers Who Blog blog ring. I hope it's going to be a great way for us UK Etsy people to link to each other, and another way to help get the word out about Etsy. It's getting pretty big in the States (naturally), but I'm pretty confident (though not pleased) in saying that I'd guess the vast majority of Brits have never heard of it. So Etsy UK people, check it out! Join and have it be a great (and easy) way to check out other UK Etsy people that blog. (LJ users, please note that the code needs to go on your PROFILE page, and thus that's the URL you need to enter as your blog when submitting yourself to the ring - for example: http://yourljusernamehere.livejournal.c (Thanks to ubercherry for the inspiration (she started the original - now sadly inactive), and to liskidder for starting V2!)

So...I did it. pleasedFourteen months after I signed up to Etsy, nine months after I (finally) put stuff into my shop....I made my 100th sale over night on Monday (23rd April)! A huge thank you to Susan (suewg) for buying my "H" Scrabble tile earrings and making them my 100th item sold! It was just less than a month after my original goal for it too. I had initially set myself the target of my 26th birthday (March 25th) to reach my first big Etsy milestone, but personal circumstances kind of got in the way for a while. Still, I wasn't far off from it. Not bad going, I say. Yay!

Feeling:
Contrary to the evidence, I am actually capable of blogging about something other than the Etsy Treasury. bouncyHowever, today I'm not about to go proving that - I discovered I was in another Treasury! Sadly just before it ended, but naturally, I took screen shots! ( MESSY 'fame' ) And even more exciting, I snagged myself my second Treasury yesterday afternoon. I went for a tartan theme this time - gotta give in to my Scottishness sometimes! I found some really gorgeous things and I think it's a pretty list. It still has a whole day left to go, so go see it while it's active! Terrific Tartan Treasury Goodness! And even more exciting than THAT, when I went to Etsy this morning I discovered it's ON THE FRONT PAGE! Admittedly I was a bit baffled at first...I thought I'd broken it and was all "how on earth did THAT get THERE?!" Then realised it was actually my treasury and it must have been picked by the Etsy Admin. Wow! ( Screen shots for posterity... ) Weeee! Treasuries are so much fun!

Completely by accident, I just discovered I'm in an Treasury, woo! (I was only in there to try and snag one for myself - one of the advantaged of being awake at such an hour on a Sunday morning) It's going to expire in less than an hour, sadly, but for while it's still there you can see it here. pleasedNaturally, I took screen shots for posterity... ( 15 seconds... ) Treasuries are fun...!

I snagged my first Etsy Treasury this morning, and went with a theme that would make Bet Lynch very, very proud – Leopard Print! pleasedClick here to check it out! It’s no secret that along with the Lady Bet, I love leopard print too. And if I had the cash, I’d be buying a hell of a lot of thing gorgeous things on my list up there. I think my favourite is the Bra & Boxers Water Colour set by FancyKStudio. They’re just adorable. I took some screen shots too, for drooling purposes once it expires... ( Grrr, baby. Very grrrr ) Yay for leopard print!

Feeling:
Some of my favourite newish things in my shop are my recycled game card key rings. productiveThanks to my ideas involving various Monopoly pieces and one yet to be realised (there just aren’t enough hours in the day) using those little pieces of “pie” from Trivial Pursuit sets, I have wound up with several second hand, charity shop finds Monopoly sets and one of the aforementioned Trivial Pursuit. All bought for the pieces. Which left me with rather a lot of play money and game cards which I did not know what the hell to do with. Until (eventually, I might add), the proverbial lightning bolt struck… Game Card Key Rings ~ A Numpty Recipe Take one hopeful idea A whole lot of Googling And more Monopoly money than any sane person should own: ![]() Throw in: Some extensive eBaying research A trip to Staples And a laminator (swiped, temporarily, from the office): ![]() And finally: Brace self for using scary eyelet bunch (result of eBay research): ![]() ![]() Gather ingredients: ![]() Get ready: ![]() Go forth and laminate! ![]() I bought a bunch of different sized laminate sheets for this. The ones that worked really well were actually for making your own luggage tags – you can see their original shape in the photo of the £100 note above. A pair of sharp scissors, a little patience and quite a lot of holding my breath took care of the rest. Time consuming, and a little tricky, but definitely worth it. The eyelet punch, while a little scary, did work pretty well. It just took a bit of getting used to. And it certainly achieved the desired effect: ![]() I’m really pleased with how they turned out in the end, and thrilled that I finally found a use for all the money and game cards! Something a little different, I think... ![]() ![]() ![]()
